It’s time to take a break from the High School Musical-verse and take a trip to Camp Rock. Introducing Demi Lovato, accompanied by The Jonas Brothers, this teen-drama sees talented kids compete with one another to win the Final Jam and be crowned king/queen of summer camp. Continue reading Camp Rock
Sorry about the delay there. We’ve been busy doing things.
It’s time to venture back to the ABQ to see how the students of East High School are spending the best summer of their lives. It’s a time of changing priorities and different friendships, but it’s the same old sing-a-longs that are going to get us there. Join Rob, Jake, Nur and Andy as we check in with Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay, and the rest of the gang as they jet off to a retreat in the hills. Continue reading High School Musical 2
It’s been a little while. Probably because we went to Spain for this episode… Okay, no we didn’t, but we might as well have. It’s The Cheetah Girls 2: When in Spain, as the world’s favourite R&B quartet jet off to Europe for a talent competition and a shot at the big time. Stay safe out there. Continue reading The Cheetah Girls 2: When in Spain
Remember Aly & AJ of ‘Potential Break-Up Song’ fame? Well, once upon a time, before they were in the charts, they were the stars of Disney Channel Original Movie, Cow Belles. Two rich girls get a slice of reality when forced to work at a dairy produce factory, where their dad is the boss. Continue reading Cow Belles
We’re soaring, flying… Truthfully, while we might have enjoyed watching Cadet Kelly and The Cheetah Girls (okay, less so The Cheetah Girls) this is the one we were all waiting for. It’s time to visit East High for the first time and take the first step into the High School Musical trilogy. Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay, Ryan, that other basketball guy. A defining moment for our generation and the third instalment of our Disney Channel Original Movies season. Continue reading High School Musical
After spending time at George Washington Military Academy with Cadet Kelly in our previous episode, this week’s Rebel Chums sees us get to know Galleria, Chanel, Aqua, and Dorinda. They’re better known as The Cheetah Girls, a group of teenage R&B sensations looking to make it into the big time. We’re also chatting about our favourite girl groups of all time. Continue reading The Cheetah Girls
We hope you’re all doing okay in lockdown.
To help both ourselves and yourselves, we’ve decided to press on and record our episodes remotely, which means we’re heading into Disney Channel Original Movie territory. First up, we’re skipping through to Cadet Kelly, the first film Nur can remember from her time growing up watching these films. Rob, Andy, and Jake have never seen it before. It’s time we flipped the premise of the show, and what better time to do so than when the world feels a little upside down? Continue reading Cadet Kelly
And so it comes to this, the last of Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy: The Return of the King. The epic conclusion to the epic tale adapted from J. R. R. Tolkien’s books, the final battle between good and evil to decide the fate of Middle Earth, the only movie in history to win every Oscar it was nominated for. Due to the government’s lockdown as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, we adhered to social distancing laws and decided to record this episode via Skype. That didn’t stop us getting our teeth into it. Continue reading The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
Before the government put us on lockdown, we were lucky enough to squeeze in one more night in front of the TV to watch the second instalment of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. This time it’s The Two Towers, which sees Saruman attempt to seize control of Middle Earth while the world of men and elves attempt to repel him; meanwhile, Sam and Frodo inch closer to Mordor. It’s Rob, Jake, Andy and Nur sat around the microphone again as we move ahead in this series and get closer to the end. We hope you’re all keeping safe! Continue reading The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
Back in 2001, Peter Jackson brought J. R. R. Tolkien’s Middle Earth to the big screen and changed blockbuster cinema forever. Rob, Jake, and Andy have been huge fans of the trilogy for a very long time, but Nur’s only experience of it was falling asleep midway through The Fellowship of the Ring several years ago. It’s just like our Star Wars adventures all over again. Continue reading The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
Pixar’s latest entry, Onward, is out in cinemas now, so we sat down to talk about it. Directed and written by Dan Scanlon (whose previous work for the animation house includes Monsters University), the film follows two brothers on a cross-country quest as they attempt to resurrect their dad, who passed away years earlier. Is this another piece of Pixar wizardry, or is it missing the magic touch? Continue reading Special: Onward
This being the final showdown between good and evil means that it’s also the final episode of our Harry Potter series, which has seen us travel to Hogwarts on a regular basis since last August and comes to a close in this episode. It’s the original four of us – Rob, Andy, Nur, and Jake – seeing you through the last hours of the one the most successful movie franchises of all time. We all know how it goes, but revisiting this movie one more time was never going to hurt. So sit back, relax, and get ready for our next episode. Continue reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2
This is the end. My only friend, the end. Well, not quite.
We’re taking a trip back in time to December 2010 for the seventh instalment of the Harry Potter saga, the Deathly Hallows – Part 1, the penultimate entry to the film adaptations. Split into two parts in order to bring the series to a satisfying conclusion, the Deathly Hallows sees our heroes venture out into the British countryside to find and destroy the secrets to Lord Voldemort’s immortality. Get your tents and hiking boots, because we’re gonna be doing some serious cardio.
It’s just the three of us this week, as Andy, Jake, and Rob discuss a film that, unbelievably, will turn 10 years-old in just a few months. It seems like only yesterday that Rob was venturing to the world’s tallest cinema to see it. A lot’s changed since then – the film saga of course came to an end just six months later, J.K. Rowling has since outed herself as a TERF, and it’s now been thirteen years since the last chapter of the infamous fanfiction My Immortal was published. All subjects are still up for discussion.
After our brief detour to a galaxy far, far away, we’re heading back to the wizarding world for the sixth instalment in the Harry Potter movie saga: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. After Lord Voldemort’s return, Harry and Dumbledore reunite with a former Hogwarts professor who holds secrets pertaining to the Dark Lord’s past; meanwhile, Harry discovers an old textbook belonging to the mysterious “half-blood prince”. We’ve got two guests for the price of one this time out, as Nur and Vicki return to the panel. Continue reading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Nearly two years ago, Rebel Chums began as an excuse for Rob, Jake and Andy to take Star Wars newbie Nur through the entire film franchise for the very first time. Since then, the four of them have gone through a sea of changes, both personal and otherwise. Rob moved house twice, Jake & Andy got engaged, and sadly Nur had to temporarily leave her role as host because she moved across the country for her studies. The hope was that she would return by the time the so-called “Skywalker saga” came to a close over Christmas 2019, with The Rise of Skywalker. In this bumper episode, we catch up with the numbered Star Wars films just in time to wave goodbye to them, as they ride off into the twin sunset on the horizon. Continue reading Special: The Rise of Skywalker
With Lord Voldemort’s comeback tour now in full swing, Harry and his friends find themselves in serious danger upon returning to Hogwarts for their fifth year. Looking to guide them through it is David Yates, who makes his first of six current appearance as a director in this franchise. Will Harry and his chums survive the force of Imelda Staunton? Will David Yates handle the largest book in J.K. Rowling’s novel series? Rob, Jake, Andy and Ed find out… Continue reading 3.5 Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
We’re back. Things are getting angsty and hormonal at Hogwarts for this episode as the Tri-Wizard Tournament comes to the old castle – just in time for the characters to realise they all fancy the pants off each other! Joining us on the panel is Nur, who’s making her final guest appearance before she returns as a full cast member in the new year. She’s not a big fan of the Harry Potter franchise but she is a fan of this one. Why is that? Well, you know where to find out. Continue reading 3.4 Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Something wicked this way comes. No, that “something wicked” is not our guest this week, but a creeping sense of dread and the increasingly burdensome responsibilities thrust upon Harry in this third instalment – the Prisoner of Azkaban. Rob, Andy, and Jake are joined by Jay, who’s back on the panel for the first time in more than a year to discuss the Alfonso Cuaron-helmed 2004 film. He’s not a big Harry Potter fan but he is a big fan of this one, so we’ve brought him along to discuss the movie that’s widely regarded as the strongest in the franchise. Do we agree? Continue reading 3.3 Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Our journey through the wizarding world of Harry Potter takes us to the second film in the franchise, the Chamber of Secrets. After Dobby the house-elf implores Harry not to return to Hogwarts for his second year, the school is under threat from a mysterious monster and ghosts from the castle’s past. Joining us is our good friend Toni, who you may remember from such episodes as “Monsters, Inc.” and “Monsters University” from season 2! It’s often considered to be the weakest film of the saga but do we agree? Continue reading 3.2 Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
It’s season three, babies! That’s right. We’re back! After making our way through the Star Wars saga and completing the currently available Pixar canon, we’re off on another adventure – this time into the wizarding world of Harry Potter. Rob, Jake, and Andy sat down to begin the franchise with Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, the first instalment of the worldwide young-adult fantasy phenomenon. Continue reading 3.1 Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone

We’re back after a brief hiatus – mainly because Rob was in hospital and Jake was busy campaigning – to dive into Finding Dory. It’s a return to the “Finding…” franchise. Can Pixar recapture the immersive and emotional magic of their 2003 classic? Continue reading Rebel Chums 2.17 – Finding Dory
We’re guestless once again as we tackle The Good Dinosaur, Pixar’s quietly released follow-up to Inside Out. Is it a good dinosaur, or is it a bad dinosaur? Continue reading Rebel Chums 2.16 – The Good Dinosaur
Nur’s back! Also, we’re watching Inside Out. But mainly: Nur’s back! Continue reading Rebel Chums 2.15 – Inside Out
Returning to the complete the “Monsters” set in Pixar’s filmography is Toni, as we head to Monsters University to watch the origin story of Mike & Sully play out. Continue reading Rebel Chums 2.14 – Monsters University

It’s the (slightly overdue) Rebel Chums Holiday Special! We’re taking a Christmas break from the Pixar universe to jump back into Star Wars, this time with the notorious and much maligned Holiday Special, broadcast on CBS in 1978. We’ve also got Rob’s Review of 2018 and Andy’s outline for the plot of Star Wars: Episode IX. Continue reading Rebel Chums, Christmas Special
Hey howdy hey, we’re back! Balloons are strapped to our shoulders and we’re off to Paradise Falls. Accompanying us on our trip there is Nur, who’s come back to discuss one of her very favourite movies. Continue reading Rebel Chums 2.10 – Up

Rebel Chums return with guest panellist Ed, who’s hear to defend Cars from our claws. Or at least that’s the plan anyway! Continue reading Rebel Chums 2.7 – Cars

And we’re back! Returning to continue our journey through the many films of Pixar Animation Studios. This week it’s Monsters, Inc. that takes the stage, and we’ve invited our good friend Toni to join us and give us her thoughts. Who put that door in the middle of the Himalayas? Continue reading Rebel Chums 2.4 – Monsters, Inc.

Season two continues, and the line-up of guests expands further! We’re joined by Jay, who’s loved A Bug’s Life since he was very small, and we’re also joined by Nur once again, as she makes her first appearance as “special guest star”! It’s good to be in the swing of things again. Continue reading Rebel Chums 2.2 – A Bug’s Life
Season two, babies! That’s right, Rebel Chums have returned. With the entire currently available Star Wars saga out of the way, we’re moving on to the wonderful filmography of Pixar. With Nur now a special guest star, Rob’s parents join the panel for this second season premiere!
Okay, we lied. This episode is the final episode of Rebel Chums’ first season! We finalise our thoughts on the most controversial film of 2017, we rank every Star Wars film from worst to best, and we reveal our plans for the future!
And so it’s come to this: the final episode of Rebel Chums’ first season! It’s Episode VIII: The Last Jedi. It’s been a wild, pod-racey ride across these ten episodes, but we’ve run out of Star Wars films to discuss!
Finally, Rebel Chums are heading into the sequels! That’s right, after eight episodes of living in the universe between The Phantom Menace and Return of the Jedi, we’re finally hyperspacing into J. J. Abrams’ vision – lens flare and all. Enjoy! Continue reading Rebel Chums – 1.9: The Force Awakens
Rebel Chums are on tour! Okay, we’ve gone to the cinema down the road, but that’s a galaxy far, far away from our usual recording spot. We’ve ventured into the unknown to see – and discuss – Solo: A Star Wars Story. Enjoy! Continue reading Rebel Chums – 1.8 Solo: A Star Wars Story
For the seventh episode of Rebel Chums, we’re moving slightly away from the main story. That’s right, it’s Rogue One time!
Before we move on to the sequel films, we first have to sit through four hours of films that set up the original trilogy. That’s right, Solo is next.
But for now, sit back and take it all in as we meet new faces, watch old faces get shoehorned in (just because), and discuss what might be the best final act in Star Wars’ history.
Welcome back to Rebel Chums – the show where four friends watch Star Wars!
So, this is it, the final step of the original saga: Revenge of the Sith. Anakin Skywalker completes his journey from innocent boy to evil overlord, and we’re right there for every step of his tragic downfall.
How will things slot together in time for A New Hope? Well, there are many ways to find out, but we’d prefer it if you found out with us.
Rebel Chums are back, and this time we’re covering Attack of the Clones, the second of the Star Wars prequels. Going into this one, we were all aware that it’s been regarded for many years as one of the weakest instalments in the saga. But do we agree?
Well, there’s only one way to find out. Enjoy! Continue reading Rebel Chums – 1.5: Attack of the Clones
Welcome back to Rebel Chums – the show where four friends watch Star Wars. We’re now through the original trilogy and pressing on towards the controversial prequels trilogy.
Which starts, of course, with The Phantom Menace, a film set even longer ago than the originals and presumably in a galaxy even farther away.
So, where does the saga begin? Who hates Jar Jar the most? Why is the film stuffed with racist caricatures? Will C3PO contemplate becoming a Never Nude? Answers inside. Continue reading Rebel Chums – 1.4: The Phantom Menace
Welcome back to Rebel Chums, the Star Wars podcast hosted by four friends. We’re back and nicely refreshed after the Easter break and we’re knuckling down for more adventures from a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.
This episode sees us cover the final instalment of the original trilogy: Return of the Jedi.
Will Luke finally defeat Darth Vader and restore peace to the galaxy? Do giant ewoks rule the universe? Did the monkey from the original cut of The Empire Strikes Back throw poop everywhere? How are Euron Greyjoy’s blue leather trousers connected to the Emperor?
There’s only one way to find out!
RC. ❤ Continue reading Rebel Chums – 1.3: Return of the Jedi
Rebel Chums are back – striking back for the purposes of this episode alone – continuing our journey through the Star Wars saga. This week we’re talking The Empire Strikes Back (1980).
Yoda is now Kermit, Luke rejects a business pitch from Darth Vader, and C-3PO intrudes on a private display of affection between two of our hosts. It’s Rob, it’s Jake, it’s Nur, it’s Andy.
Hello from the Rebel Chums!
We’re four good friends who decided to watch all of the Star Wars films (again) and talk about them. We’re roughly going to cover them in the order of release, but that might change along the way as we see fit.
This episode, the first of a projected ten, will see the four of us cover the very first Star Wars film, episode IV: A New Hope. Continue reading Rebel Chums – 1.1: A New Hope
